Internet connection

Out of the box, your device follows these rules to attempt to get an internet connection:

4G connection

  • If your device is supplied with a SIM, then it will be preconfigured to work automatically - no action required
    OR

  • Using your own SIM card the device will attempt to determine the correct network settings - however, this is often unsuccessful, especially for commercial SIMs. You will need to use local access mode to set your 4G settings.

Wi-Fi connection

  • You must enter the SSID and password of your Wi-Fi network using local access mode.

  • For connecting to local access mode your device can start its own Wi-Fi hotspot. The SSID will be [Product Name]-[Serial Number] - the password depends on how the unit was configured. Once you connect to the hotspot the device can be connected to using 192.168.100.1.

LAN 1 connection

  • It will attempt to get an IP address automatically using DHCP. If it is successful, and this connection has internet access - no action is required.
    OR

  • Your device will fall back to a known static IP address (192.168.10.1) to allow you to connect to your device and use local access mode to set the necessary IP address settings.

It is possible to use this connection as well to connect to cameras - even if you're using it for an internet connection.

Camera connection

You can use LAN 1 to connect to cameras, but in some circumstances, you may want to separate your internet connection from your camera network - in this case, you can use LAN 2 to connect to your camera's network.

LAN 2 connection (only on Link/Gateway devices)

Some devices also have a second LAN port. This is so you can have one port to connect to your internet connection, and a second port to connect to a network that contains your cameras.

You can not use this port to connect your device to the internet.

  • It will attempt to get an IP address automatically using DHCP.
    OR

  • Your device will fall back to a known static IP address (192.168.11.1) to allow you to connect to your device and use local access mode to set the necessary IP address settings.
