How do I connect a cellular-enabled device to a 4G network?

A walkthrough of how to get your cellular device up and running.

Was your device supplied with a SIM card?

If so, then it will come preconfigured to connect to the appropriate network. Simply attach your cellular antennas and the device should connect automatically.

Step 1 - Insert your SIM card

An appropriate SIM card is required in order to connect your device over a cellular communications bearer. The unit has an inbuilt modem for 3G/4G connection.

Despite the ultra-efficient bandwidth usage achieved by our video codec, your device is considered a heavy data use product on cellular networks. It is recommended that an unlimited data plan (or if unavailable, a heavy consumption data plan) is set up with your Mobile Network Service Provider.

To insert a SIM card, locate the SIM card slot on the unit's rear face. The SIM card contacts should face upwards with a chamfered edge first when inserted (see figure below for guidance).

To eject a SIM card, press the SIM card and it will be ejected from the unit - you may need a SIM ejection tool or flat screwdriver to help push the SIM card.

Note SIM Card Orientation: Contacts up, chamfered corner first. SIM card clicks into place when inserted correctly.

Step 2 - Attach your cellular antenna

Your device should have been supplied with two cellular antennas. These should be attached to the antenna connectors near the SIM slot. The device should have a label above to differentiate the 4G connectors from the GPS connector.

Step 3 - (Optional) Configure your operator settings

Your device is often able to detect common SIM card settings. Once powered, your device may automatically configure its cellular settings and connect automatically.

Power your device, log into the web app, and wait on the Notifications screen. If your device's default network settings match your configuration your device should appear online after a few minutes.

If not you'll need to connect to your device by enabling local access mode and check the status of your 4G connect.
