How do I set the location of a device using the map?

This functionality allows you to see the locations of your devices on a map.

Steps

  1. Open the application.

  2. Click on the Map tab at the top of the screen, on the mobile app it is represented by a paper map symbol. To switch between Map view and satellite view click on the 2 buttons marked ‘Map’ and ‘Satellite’ at the top right of the screen. On the mobile app it is the 2nd icon from the left in the grey cluster.

  3. To add a location, first click on the Filter icon (represented by a funnel) to the right of the ‘search encoders’ box. If you are using the mobile app then click on the ‘>’ icon in the grey cluster to expand the menu.

  4. It will be defaulted to only show online link devices (encoders), to see all link devices click on both ‘Offline encoders’ and ‘No location encoders’ and the list will now show all encoders. Any offline link devices will be represented by faint grey text on a dark grey background and any online link devices will be represented by white text on a light grey background.

  5. To give a link device a location, click on SET to the right of it. Link devices that have a location will have an eye symbol to the right of their name. Devices that haven’t been given a location will have the word SET to the right of it.

  6. Click on the Set location icon (This is a + symbol) to the right of the latitude and longitude coordinates and a blue box with ‘Set location, click anywhere on the map to set the location’ will appear at the bottom of the screen.

  7. Click on the Map and a video camera icon will appear.

  8. You can now use your mouse to move around on the map to choose a location. To zoom in or out you can either use the scroll function on your mouse or use the + and buttons located at the bottom right of the screen.

  9. To change the colour of the icon click on the Square above the set camera location icon.

  10. To save your changes select Apply at the bottom of the box, if you would like to cancel your changes click on the Clear drop-down menu and select either Clear location or Clear all locations, then Close.

  11. Now that you have set a location you can right-click on the name of your link device and select Zoom map around the asset. This will give you a detailed view of exactly where your link device is and you can you use the methods outlined in Step 8, to zoom in/out on this exact location. Tip, switch between map view and satellite view to help you assess the location.

  12. If you decide that you would like to change the location of a link device, then right-click on the name of the link device select Change location and follow steps 8 to 10.

  13. To use the split screen mode (video/map), right-click on any link device and then select Open the video with a map. You will now have the video feed on the left-hand side of your screen and the map on the right.
