What does Boost upload speed do?

Find out what happens when you choose to adjust the video backup speed.

Updated over a week ago

When uploading a new video backup there is an option to Boost upload speed:

When you leave this unticked:

  • Your device trickle-feeds your backup to the cloud, alongside all other notification video clips and live streaming from the same device. This is to ensure that you can still use the other features of the device and there is no loss in performance.

  • The streaming bandwidth used will never exceed the maximum bitrates set in your device's settings.

When you tick Boost upload speed:

  • Your device will try to upload the video backup as quickly as possible and ignore the maximum bitrates set in your device's settings for the video backup.

  • The notification video clips and live streaming will continue to adhere to the maximum bitrates set.

  • On low-bandwidth or difficult networks 'boost' may affect the quality of the live streaming and notifications video clips may take longer - this is because the video backup is being prioritised.

By default, the boost option is unticked to ensure that the system continues to operate normally for all users.
