What are the configuration options for zone crossing?

Understand what each section of the zone crossing wizard does.

Updated over a year ago

Zone crossing is used to detect when something or someone moves between two configured zones in a camera's field of view.

When you are configuring zone crossing for a camera configured for one of your devices you will be walked through a five-step wizard.

Those five steps are:

  1. What do you want to detect?
This step will allow you to choose what you wish to detect, depending on the capability of the device.

  2. Your first detection zone
You must select the first detection zone. It must be one distinct area. You click and drag to select.

  3. Your second detection zone
It again must be one distinct area. It cannot overlap with the first area. The area selected in the first detection zone will be disabled and have a different outline colour.

  4. What direction of movement?
You can choose what directions of travel can trigger a notification. By default, we select that you should only get notifications when travel is detected from the first zone to the second, but you can change this to detect both directions of travel.

  5. Add a custom message to your notification
When notifications are received by users, they will get a summary of what has generated it, any media associated with it (i.e. recordings), and (if specified) a custom message. This field is entirely optional, but it allows you to include any relevant content, including workflow instructions if required.
